Okay! Let’s talk about some of our favourite doors:

Creative Technique
We really liked how @m0n.dragon adjusted the exposure here to emphasize the interplay between light and shadow, creating a dramatic and visually compelling image that captures the viewers imagination by revealing a glimpse of the world beyond 👀

Capture Surroundings
Really enjoying the composition created here by the geometric shapes and colour. By positioning the black door in the center of the photo @simonlarsen creates a dramatic visual contrast with the surroundings that draws in the viewers attention.

Narrative & Texture
@melancholicimagary_ photo was so powerful we had to use this photo for our first Ordinary Days cover photo! The peeling paint creates a sense of decay & neglect which evoke a feeling of abandonment and isolation. The door itself becoming a symbol of the houses past and the memories that are left behind.

Light & Shadow
Using the sunbeam as a focal point @georgezm1 immediately draws the viewer in by creating a sense of warmth at the center of the frame. With the surrounding environment remaining colder in colour it makes us consider the story, potentially a symbol for 5pm.. the door that frees you to the world after work.

Hand Made Details
The handmade features on this door serve as visual interest at first, but with more consideration tell the story of the creative person who made it and what type of space may lay beyond.

Narrative
When I first saw this photo I was immediately drawn to the painting on the door. Does the face represent the people inside behind the dominating and looming brick wall? Or was the door a perfect canvas already framed for an artists work.

Documenting Time
I really loved the direct feeling of time I got from this photo. We can see a visual cross section through time. It seems like the door was once used, then covered, and now re-exposed for another chapter in its journey.

Memorable Scenes

I love how @RichardMortime2 turns everyday moments into memorable scenes with a narrative. Three sets of doors here each with their own story. How do you read this photograph?

Can you spot the Robin?

Nostalgia
@Edenmore post really got me longing for a morning in europe. By showing the morning light and surounfing buildings I’m ready for a coffee and some mid day cinema.

Check out our Instagram story here for additional photos that we cannot get an embedd link for.

Thanks for reading the first “Ordinary Days” feature. We look forward to taking & talking more photography together!
